Well, no posts for the next three weeks. I'll be off, burning my butt somewhere on a Thai beach. Meanwhile, Six-Packspeedshop is wrenching on my engine. Hope it will be done when I return...

Survivor: 1971 Dodge Charger SE
Again, this is not an early b-body but my buddy Marcel bought this 1971 Dodge Charger SE a couple of weeks ago and since we don't get to see survivor cars this much, I thought I should mention it. I totally hate the model and think is ugly but then again, that's personal.
This car is matching numbers, has a 383cui 2BBL backed up by a 727 TF automatic transmission which is followed up by a 2.76 gearing. It's a high optioned car; powersteering, powered disk brakes, air conditioning, speedcontrol, 6-way seats, remote hood release, tape-recorder, FM-radio, automatic and so on...I was stunned about the condition of this car. Funny that, with all that options, it doesn't have a right outside mirror...
I don't like the model but I do like the color (Butterscotch Yellow). Chrome is in perfect condition. The only place where you can tell the car has aged, is the trunklid. The paint is "not so good" overthere and has faded.
Single exhaust! How cute...She purs like a kittin'...
Enginebay is original and all labels are there. Except for the repainted valve covers, a new radiator hose and a new radiator, and maybe a new master brakecilinder, this is untouched. Yes, that's a speed-control on the right. Even the heatshield is still there!
The interior is flawless and looks like it's never been used. Even the driver-seat (6-way) is like new. Nice detail: taperecorder.

Little help down the track
This one is nice. The editor of this movie, which was shot from a 1965 Dodge Coronet 500, added some comments. I like it. I always thought that revving the engine after the burnout was just for showing off...but it actually has a reason:

Engine removal
Today we removed the mill from Red. Here's an illustrated report:
Our weapon of choice
Our weapon of choice
Checking the internal of the engine. Most of the main bearings where slightly damaged due to the bad lifter probably. Also the cilinder walls have some slight damage. The oilpump was completely gone. We are going to turn that piece of iron into a nice statue or something like that.
Pistons removed, some pushrod bearings where not "that good".
Heads. Seemed that 1 valve was new, the rest looked "original". These are close chamber heads.
The Aftermath: mission accomplished
I hate headers...
Hm...this is not right...and what's with the orange spray-markings on the timing-chian's shackles?

1964 Plymouth Savoy
Found this one on www.rayskillmanclassiccars.com. Not for sale, but still a very nice car. Don't like the lift-off hood though...

Progress on Red's mill
Because we didn't have a engine-jack, we where forced to do as much as possible with the engine in the car. The engine is now disconneted from the headers and tranny.
Workbench ready for engine parts. Keep it clean!
Hood removed
Engine almost ready to be dismouted from the car.
Tools tools tools tools...
...and tools and tools and tools all over the place.

The annual German Mopar Nats is the largest Mopar meet in our neighborhood and is still growing every year. The new location was perfect and about 300 cars where there to show and shine on saturday. Ofcourse, there where some early b-bodies but not much. Here's some pics.
1964 Dodge Polara, fresh from Ebay. Had a 440.
1963 Plymouth Savoy, bought via Ebay. I also found this car there and even the Coronet isn't running...I'm glad I didn't bought this one.
1963 Dodge 440, 318cui poly
1964 Dodge Polara, for sale (no engine and tranny). Very nice car.
